2025 Foundation (Prep) enrolment

The Department of Education has released an updated statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline for the 2025 school year.

The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child into Foundation (Prep) at a Victorian government primary school, including Meeniyan Primary School. All government primary schools will follow the timeline in 2024 to support Foundation (Prep) enrolments for the 2025 school year.

You can find information and resources about the timeline, including factsheets and a poster at: Enrolling in Foundation (Prep). You can also download the ‘Foundation (Prep) Enrolment Information Pack for Parents and Carers’ from Enrolling in Foundation (Prep) (available from 15 April 2024). You will be able to apply to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) 2025 at [insert your school’s name] from 15 April 2024.

Parent/Student/Teacher Relationships

It is important to establish and maintain cooperative relationships between parents, students and teachers.

In Term 1 we have Parent,  Student and Teacher (PST) meetings when teachers meet with students and parents to develop a good working relationship and discuss academic and personal learning goals.

If you have any concerns affecting your child, please come to us and discuss them. Parents are welcome to call and discuss their child’s progress at all times. We do appreciate seeing and talking with parents at non-teaching times during the day, such as before and after school or during recess and lunch breaks.

Click here for information on  making a time to meet with staff.

School Uniform

The Meeniyan Primary School Council is committed to the wearing of school uniform or school colours by all students. Parents are asked to write their child’s name clearly on articles of clothing and shoes to speed up the return of those that have been lost or misplaced.

You can download a copy of the uniform list and further information about the wearing of School Uniform here.

Sun Smart Policy

We are a Sun Smart School and it is school policy for all children to wear a broad brimmed hat when outside from the beginning of the school year until May 1st and from September 1st until the end of the year.  Children who do not have a broad brimmed or bucket hat to wear are expected to play or sit in shaded areas.

Lunch and Food at School

All children are seated and supervised by the teacher on duty when eating lunch.

Lunches may be ordered from the Bread and Pickles Deli. All orders are made directly through the deli by  10 am .  A menu is available from the deli.

Children are encouraged to bring bottles of drinking water.  Water bottles containing water only, may be taken into classrooms. Please do not send drinks in glass containers or cans.

Soft-drink, chewing gum and lollies on sticks are not permitted and lollies are discouraged at school.

Because of the 1.30pm time slot for lunch, we strongly recommend that a substantial, healthy morning playlunch be sent to school.

All students are able to eat a piece of fruit at 12.30pm. Fruit such as apples, bananas and grapes are ideal. Please do not send messy fruits such as oranges for fruit break.

During the afternoon children are also welcome to bring fruit into the classroom.

We recommend that  students travelling on loops 3 and 4 (  Tarwin Valley and Meeniyan-Liptrap) bring a bus snack to enjoy whilst waiting for their departure time.

Book Club

Twice per term the children are given Book Club Student Catalogues from Ashton Scholastic Booksellers. Parents may or may not wish to purchase books, which are offered at competitive prices.

Bonus points are earned by the school from the sale of these books and are used for purchases for the library. Book Club is coordinated by a parent volunteer. All Book Club orders are through the Ashton Scholastic Online System, LOOP
