Our Environmental Science program helps our students to be aware of current environmental issues such as waste management, biodiversity and sustainability. Students undertake a wide range of practical experiments, projects and host different student led events to bring awareness to different issues.

The importance of sports and games in school encompasses more than just the benefit of physical activity. Increases in self-esteem and mental alertness make school sports and games necessary for every school age child. It teaches the children life skills like teamwork, leadership and patience. We participate in Inter – school Sport including swimming, athletics, Grade 5/6 Winter Sport Program.
School excursions and incursions are an important and effective means of motivating students and engaging them in active learning experiences. They also provide an opportunity to connect with the real-world, which helps students make the connections between what they are learning and why.
As part of the educational program, excursions may be arranged by class teachers in line with their curriculum. Parents will be notified in writing about the excursion. Written permission and authority to take emergency action in the case of illness or accident is required from parents. It is the parent’s responsibility to contact the Principal or class teacher if they do not want their child to attend an activity. Where an excursion requires student payment, students will only attend if the cost has been paid in advance.
As educators, we share a common purpose – to provide our students with an education that gives each child the best start to a happy, healthy and prosperous life. Victoria’s Respectful Relationships initiative has been designed to help schools and their communities promote and model respect and equality – and to teach our children how to build healthy relationships, resilience and confidence.
Each year, teachers will be covering the initiatives eight topics in the classroom: emotional literacy, personal strengths, positive coping, problem solving, stress management, help seeking, gender and identity and positive gender relations. All these topics will be covered at an age appropriate level using the resources developed by the Department of Education.
Our Primary Welfare Officer (Donna Giliam) will provide a Respectful Relationships column in the newsletter each week highlighting different snippets of information related to this program as well initiatives within our school.
